#2 AI Ethics

I had a few people send me a video where the creator of the Ghibli Animation studio, Hayao Miyazaki's, said he would “never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all”. While this was close to decade ago (2016), it still brings up interesting questions about IP in our new AI world; specifically, what’s the line between inspiration and exploitation.
Are these AI images inspired by Miyazaki’s style, or does it exploit his style?
Like many of you, I’m personally affected by this as well. AI has fully trained on my publicly available articles & tutorials. Here’s an Instagram video where I spoke about it last year (here’s a link for my non-social-media friends). All this to say, this is a topic and area I’m very curious about and I’m still forming my own opinions about something that is changing VERY rapidly. I’d would love to hear any of your thoughts on the subject and where you fall on the whole “AI as a tool for inspiration vs exploitation” question, if you care to share.
#3 - Nested Menu Dropdowns (Update)
I’ve recently updated my Nested Menu Dropdowns plugin with a much simpler installation method. This update is free for all current plugin owners.
The previous version works great still, but was pretty cumbersome to setup and handoff to a client. This update (optional) doesn’t change any of the design or features, but makes the installation and handoff substantially easier.
Improving a plugin’s installation isn’t one of those updates that makes for a splashy marketing message, but it does make your life as a designer less stressful and annoying, so I’m happy to be putting this out there.

#4 - QR Codes in Squarespace
Squarespace now makes it super easy to generate QR Codes for any page in your Squarespace website. Just toggle on the QR Code option in the Page Settings to generate the code. This currently only works for normal pages, not collections or collection items.
