3 Updates from Will-Myers land

SEPTEMBER 16, 2024

Hey friend,

It’s been a whirlwind of a month over here.

First, we decided to sell our house in Atlanta, and we close on the sale in about… 3 hours! Needless the say, the last month has been crazy as this all happened pretty fast. Thanks for your patience if I’ve been a bit slow to respond to emails.

I’m pretty excited about our next stage and where we’ll be moving, but it hasn’t been finalized yet so I’m holding on sharing that info for now.

Second, next week is Circle Day! Christy and I will be giving a presentation, 7 Ways to Save Time as a Squarespace Designer, as well as a whole host of other fantastic speakers. Be sure to register to watch live or join the world loop to catch the recording in your time zone. If you’re going to be there in person, please come up and say hi!

Christy and I also did a podcast episode with Sam and Sarah, the two people in charge of the Circle Community and putting on Circle Day, about what you can expect this year. Check it out below.

Lastly, we just launched a Slack Community for our Code Curious members. This has been a long time coming, but I’m very happy to get this community off the ground. If you’re a member, check out this page to join the group.

Keep Building,
Will

Behind the Scenes of Squarespace Circle with Sarah Greisdorf and Sam Zelitch

Somewhat Useful

In this episode of "Somewhat Useful," we get to speak with special guests Sarah Greisdorf, team lead for Squarespace Circle, and Sam Zelitch, Squarespace senior community events manager.

Our conversation centers around Circle Day, now in its third year, which celebrates the work of professional Squarespace website designers. Sam and Sarah share some updates for this year's event, including a new "world loop" feature that will broadcast the event across multiple time zones and languages.

We discuss:

  • The structure and highlights of this year's Circle Day

  • How Squarespace balances feedback from professional and DIY users

  • The role of community in product development and user satisfaction

  • Teasers for upcoming Squarespace features and improvements

Big thanks to the season 3 sponsor, Termageddon — the ONLY privacy policy generator founded by an actual attorney. Their generator asks you questions about your business, finds out which privacy laws apply to you, and then generators the policies specific to your website’s needs. The best part is that Termageddon monitors new laws and will auto-update your policies as needed. It’s a true, set-it-and-forget-it option for website owners. Use promo code “somewhat” for 10% off your first purchase.

And if you’re a web designer, you can get something extra.
