It’s been a busy few weeks over here. Two weeks ago, I was able to be on a panel with some of my favorite Squarespace friends at Circle Day.

I was also able to meet more of the amazing people in the Squarespace community that, in my opinion, are vital to the sustainability and growth of Squarespace as a platform. The Circle Community is something really special about Squarespace.
Then, last week I was on vacation in Sorrento, and now this week, my wife and I are settling into Rome, kicking off a three-month stint of working from (mostly) Italy. 🇮🇹 🍝 🍷
To be honest, I’ve been a bit hesitant to talk about the “working from Italy” part, because it feels a bit braggy (albeit in a basic “I like wine and pasta and sunsets” kinda way). And at the same time, not sharing feels like I’m hiding it.
Living abroad and working remotely is something that Ren and I have been talking about doing for years now, and we’ve intentionally worked to get our life and finances set up so that we can try this. We’re Airbnb-ing our house in Atlanta, and Airbnb-ing month-long stays in different places — so far we’ve been in Seattle, Brooklyn, now Rome, and next on to Genova, Sicily, and a few stops in the UK… if you have recommendations for any of these spots, or better yet if you’ll be in any of them too, let me know!
Still not sure if our trip will be “successful” or not, or even what that means, but I’ll give you a full report. And if you’ve been thinking about the travel-and-working thing for a bit and have any specific questions, just reply to this email. Nothing would make me happier than sharing our experience with this so far.

New tutorial! Squarespace doesn’t allow for image overlays on List Section Images and that’s what I planned to solve with this tutorial. Choose from 6 different CSS customizations to add an overlay on top of your list section items (Simple, Carousel, or Slideshow). Use gradients, multiple colors, or add a hover effect.
