Welcome to the summer months, where things slow down.
It can be a little worrisome if you’re new to town.
Small businesses have cycles and it’s good to know,
When the summer comes around, sales go low.
Ok, no more rhyming from me. But if you’re a freelancer or web designer looking at your sales and wondering why things are slowing down, I want to provide a little comfort and context that a sales slowdown is normal for this time of year.
The first summer I started selling plugins, there was about a 30% decrease in sales and I genuinely believed that the business had failed and that I should start looking for a different job. I later learned the summer is just when most of my customers take time off or are busy wrangling their kids who are home from school.
I eventually learned I needed to push a little more marketing during the Spring and Fall months (my biggest months) and just relax and enjoy the downtime during the summer months a bit more.
I’m still out on holiday for one more day, but I’ll be back tomorrow. Hope you’re enjoying your summer!
