The Code Catalogue

APRIL 25, 2023

Hey friend,

Do you get frustrated with recipe websites as much as I do? You google a recipe you’re looking for and click on one with a delicious looking image only to get blasted with irrelevant commentary on the dish, ads, and confusing UI.

To be fair, recipe websites do this because The Algorithm craves it. These websites wouldn’t be getting the traffic, and thus the ad revenue, if you didn’t click on it. And why did you click on it? Because Google showed it near the top — not because it’s the best, but because it had a lot of content, and Google and other search engines crave content (they’re so needy)… even though sometimes, an unnecessary amount of content provides a bad user experience for, ya know, us silly humans.

To be even more fair, I also do this. My tutorial pages & my Code Curious membership series’ are focused on helping people learn (with a tinge of SEO bloat), but that’s not what everyone wants or needs. Oftentimes, you don’t want all my explanation about why or how this code works, you just want a quick and simple way to grab some code to get the design you want.

I want to introduce to you the newest addition to the Code Curious membership, The Code Catalogue.

The Code Catalogue

(if you’re curious about my Code Curious membership, learn more here)

The Code Catalogue is meant to help you build beautiful websites, fast. But it’s also meant to inspire you, to show you things that you could build with Squarespace. The code snippets in the Code Catalogue are just for members, but anyone can go and check out the page right now to see what’s available. Whereas previously you had to sort through my tutorial videos and blogs to find these little bits of code (and fear not, this will still be an option for non Code Curious members), now I’m streamlining and organizing them all in one place.

To clarify, the Code Catalogue will house all of our code ‘snippets’ — the little bits of code that can quickly and easily be used in a website to get some basic design and functionality customization — and not our Plugins. Plugins are chunkier, bigger pieces of code that offer more advanced design, functionality, and customization, and they’ll continue to be available for anyone to buy one-off.

My hope is that the Code Catalogue will make your designs a little better, your process a little faster, and your lives a little easier.

I’m also focused on making the Code Curious membership something that’s sustainable and long-lasting for you, and that means increasing the price to from $12 / mo to $15 / mo. This increase will take effect on May 1st. All current members, as well as anyone who signs up before May 1, are locked into the lower price at $12 / mo.

If you’d like to join, you can sign up here.

I’m super grateful for all support and help so far, and I’m excited to continue to build new things for you.

Keep Building, Will
