It’s been a while since I’ve sent a newsletter about things, and there are a lot of announcements! Here’s a quick overview, but more details are below.
Script Update Needed: Blog Post & Event Post Banner Plugins. Squarespace is making some changes tonight which might effect the Blog & Event Post plugins for Squarespace 7.1 websites, so I’ve updated the code for them.
Ask Us Anything Webinar Videos. There were some great questions from our webinar last month. Christy and I have picked a few of our favorites and we’re putting them on Youtube.
Plugin & Tutorial Updates. I’ve created a page to document any feature changes or major code updates to my plugins & tutorials.
Shopify v Squarespace. I’m currently working on a Shopify website and I have some preliminary thoughts on the Shopify v Squarespace debate.

Blog Post & Event Post Plugins
Squarespace announced they are updating some of the HTML for section background images which will effect the Blog Post Banner pluigin, the Event Post Banner plugin, and the Blog Post Banner Image tutorial. If you’ve bought either of these plugins, just make sure your installation <script> is up-to-date.
Squarespace does this from time to time to give us more functionality, and I’m very appreciative that they’re now giving us a heads up. I think this change will go into effect sometime this evening and continue through the weekend, so update the code before then.
Just FYI, I’m in the middle of a year-long transition over to a better code base so that I can manage more of these smaller updates for you, without needing to update anything. Reach back out to me if you have questions or run into any problems when you’re updating your code.

Plugin & Tutorial Updates
I’m beginning to publicly document any update I make to a plugin or tutorial. The web is evolving, Squarespace is growing, and I’m constantly updating my free and paid code to make sure it continues to work for you. I’ve created a page to list any and all of my updates. There are a few each week, so I’ll also list these changes and updates in this newsletter and possibly even on my Instagram if you’re into this whole “Social Media” thing.
Shopify v Squarespace
I’m currently working on a Shopify website. I’ve been deep (deep) into the Squarespace ecosystem for a long time, and this project seemed to be a good challenge and an opportunity to learn more about the tradeoffs between Shopify & Squarespace. From a high-level, Squarespace is by far the easier platform to build a website on. Shopify has many more e-commerce features and a much more advanced developer ecosystem (which I loved), but it’s still much harder & more time consuming to create a custom website than in Squarespace. Like I said, much more to come on this topic, so shoot over any questions you have about Shopify v Squarespace. I’d love to answer them in my next blog post.
