I’ve added a new tutorial on adding a search icon to your header. The icon would link to your built-in search page.
To be honest, the built-in search function in Squarespace is not great. It often produces inconsistent results, and there is no way to customize the content that it shows.
With that being said, it is better than nothing. About 2 years ago, I built a tutorial on how to add a Search Bar to your Site Header and it has become my #1 most viewed article on my website! However, I know there are some issues with it, especially regarding mobile usability and spacing.
So I just launched my new tutorial that adds a search icon that links to your built-in search page (yes, you have one!) on your website. It’s not as great as having search directly in your header, but it’s the next best thing.
