Howdy friend,
Well, it’s Friday morning my time and I’m WAY behind my posting schedule this week (I’m sure this is not relatable at all).
I made a goal this year to publish two tutorials per week, but I’ve also picked up a couple of larger client projects that are taking up a bunch of my of time this month. Now I have to make some tradeoffs with my time. Should I spend time on my free marketing content, or focus on my paid work that actually, well, pays?
New Years goals are great, but eventually, you always arrive at a very real decision point — and something has to give. At the decision points, it’s helpful to understand the “why” behind your options. Why do I need to keep my marketing consistent? Why can’t I, just this week, not send an email to y’all, and push it off until next week?
For me, it’s about trust - you trusting in me, and you trusting in yourself. If I’m publishing two articles a week, week after week, eventually you’re able to trust that I’m there. Whether you’re trying to build a business or you’re just code-curious, you trust that I’m someone who is consistently looking at website questions and trying to solve them.
But in addition to building your trust in me, I want to be in your inbox every week with new coding content so that you can trust yourself. You can feel a bit better about that decision to not get that “real" corporate job, or to give up some of your free time on nights and weekends, so you can give this freelance / entrepreneur / website building thing a go. There’s a safety in numbers things going when you see other people, just like you, who are also trying to do the same thing. So my newsletter is also in your inbox to remind you that you’re not alone, I’m here with you.
Of course, there’s an added benefit that consistent marketing brings traffic to your website. *Insert sales funnel mumbo jumbo here*, but the subconscious trust that it builds is way more important and impactful.
Along with consistency, another important business attribute is communication! And I’d like to communicate that my tutorials will be coming out a bit late this week 😬, during the weekend sometime. The videos are recorded and ready to go, I just need to add them to my website.
I’m working on getting through my support tickets now, so thanks for your patience if you’re waiting. I hope you all have a great weekend, and trust that I’ll be there, in your inbox, next week.
Keep building,
Will
