Get better at building websites
Hey friend,
Some new exciting updates in Squarespace-land this past week… introducing (drumroll, please) Member Areas! And I’ve got a new CSS Course to go along with it (see below).
Additional news and updates down below. I hope you Americans had a good Thanksgiving and everyone else had a good… time.
Keep Building,

LEARN CSS
I’ve just completed my newest course and I’m ready to teach some CSS! The course is still in beta and I have a few more advanced lessons that I’m going to add, but it’s ready for people to start using and is available on my website.
In an effort to make this course accessible to everyone and start getting feedback from real students, I’m selling it at a discount right now (while it’s in beta) for $99. Once it’s out of beta, the price will increase.
This course was built for people who want to learn CSS or take their skills to the next level and truly understand what’s happening under the hood. My wife calls it a “dense” course- it covers a lot of ground, but I walk you through everything step by step, so it’s approachable and easy to understand and apply. Since CSS is used in literally every website on the internet, the skills you’ll gain can be used for any website on any platform (but of course I have some Squarespace-specific snippets and applications for you).

COOL THINGS AROUND THE WEB
50 practical UX/UI design tips - Erik Kennedy is a designer that I’ve been following for a while now and he recently just started a Twitter thread where he’s giving one practice design tip a day for the next 50 days. Worth a follow if you’re on Twitter.
Member Areas In Squarespace - Super super super super super super super excited about this one. In fact, just as I was about to launch my course, Squarespace released member areas and I then moved my entire course onto it. The link goes to Kerstin Martin’s review, which I wholeheartedly agree with.
Floating Back To Top Button - Just made this little tutorial to walk you through building one of these little gals from scratch. Code on my website.
Responsively - Just learned about this tool from my friend Roland, (who’s got some cool plugins over at SQSMODS). This is a tool that helps you see your website on multiple different screen sizes at once.
NEW PLUGIN
Overflow Carousel - here’s a fun little plugin that I built and I’m personally using on my new homepage. It’s great for adding a cool overflow effect to any blog items in a summary block. Hope you enjoy!
I’ve also made a bunch of other minor updates to my plugins. No additional features, just bug fixes and performance improvements.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
Is there a feature on a website you’re trying to replicate? Are you running into a problem with something? Send me your questions & examples of what you’re trying to replicate and I’ll see if I can build it.
