Get better at building websites
Hey friend,
We were stuck in Gulf Shores during Hurricane Sally a few weeks ago and lost power and water for a while, which slowed me down immensely. Last weekend, we were planning to take a long weekend vacation which I ended up needing to work through in order to make up for the lost time resulting from the hurricane.
Needless to say, this year has been insane. Coronavirus, racial injustice, civil unrest, wildfires, hurricanes. These are all really large things, that are reshaping how we live and work.
I find myself grateful for a career that has largely been untouched by the events of this year. I know I’m part of the lucky minority that has been able to weather these storms (both figurative and literal) more than most, and that’s why it’s so important for me to keep writing, recording and sharing what I’ve learned. I encourage you to continue to invest in skills for yourself, while finding ways to share and giveback as you can.

Secondary Navigation in Squarespace 7.1 - this was a highly requested plugin of late and I can’t wait to see how people use it. I’ve built in two different features, a custom one modeled after Apple’s product pages and a simplified one modeled after Squarespace 7.0 Brine Secondary Nav.
Split Section Plugin Update - Now it works in Squarespace 7.0, you can use multiple different splits sections per group (3 or more across), and an improved sticky section installation (no more pasting CSS in the page header).
LEARN CSS
I’m working on a course, CSS for Squarespace, that will help designers become proficient in understanding and using code. This is going to be an extensive course that will walk you through everything step by step, with tons of examples and best practices.
