Will’s Web Stuff Newsletter
Well it has been a little while since I’ve written a newsletter. My life, like many of yours, has looked a bit different over the last couple of months than it normally does (have y’all heard about this coronavirus thing?). Nevertheless, in some of the unexpected down time I’ve been busy upping my code game and creating more resources and plugging for you guys, and I’ll share some of them with you in this email.
Onto some Squarespace updates:
Super Easy Image Slider
I launched my first ‘plugin’, which is an image slider that’s super easy to install. Thanks to everyone who has purchased it so far!
Gradient Color Themes for Sections in Squarespace 7.1
Have you ever wanted to give a color theme in Squarespace 7.1 a gradient color? (My wife calls this “ombre” color 🤷🏻♂️) This tutorial walks you through how to set it up.
Change the Image Overlay Opacity on Each Type of Image
Squarespace has added an element to each image block (in 7.1) that controls the image overlay color. But the problem is, the opacity only goes up to 10%. This tutorial walks you through making the opacity of the overlay color whatever you want. This is especially helpful in making text on top of an image more legible.
Any Text Character - Unicode Table
Now I haven’t posted an article about this, but I’ve found this website to be super helpful to me recently, so I thought I’d share it here. You can get any text character you need. Arrows? There’s like a thousand of them. Stars? Yup, tons of those too. Check it out!
Squarespace Circle Clubs (ATL where you at??)
Squarespace just released “clubs” in their Circle program. Really excited to see where this one goes, but there seem to be a bunch of different clubs popping up already. There’s already clubs for Podcasters, CopywrIters, Graphic Designers, and a bunch of location-based ones. I started one for Atlanta-based Squarespace-ers, so be sure to join that if you’re in the Atlanta area!
As always, I love hearing from you, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
Continue building,
Will
